Spring Cleaning and Teeth Whitening

Now that Spring is here, it is that time of year for new growth and fresh starts. While many people take time for spring cleaning in order to spruce up their home for the season ahead, they shouldn’t forget to get their smile some attention as well.

As time passes, teeth tend to get duller and susceptible to staining. Most stains occur on the enamel, which is the outer protecting layer of your teeth.

Common causes of teeth stains include:

  • Foods such as berries, tomato sauce, candy, and popsicles
  • Drinks such as coffee, tea, red wine, sodas, and juices
  • Smoking
  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Medications
  • Advancing age
  • Genetics
  • Disease

That is why teeth whitening treatments can provide a brighter and more youthful smile. If you are interested in doing some spring cleaning on your teeth, Forrester Dental can help.

Dr. Forrester offers both in-office whitening and take-home solutions using high-concentration bleaching gels. If you decide to have whitening treatments in our office, we use a protective barrier over your tooth-root surfaces and gums during the procedure. On the other hand, our take-home whitening includes plastic mouth trays—molded from your own teeth—to wear on occasion for about an hour at a time.

Even after your teeth are whitened, it is imperative to brush and floss—at least twice a day—every day. Do not forget to schedule regular dental cleanings to ensure your oral health is at peak condition.

If you are interested in teeth whitening this spring, contact us and schedule an appointment with Dr. Forrester today.
